The Inglehart-Welzel Cultural Map combines data from the World Values Survey and European Values Study, two long-running investigations into people's values. It simplifies values into two axes: survival (eg personal security) on the left vs self-expression (eg personal independence) on the right, and traditional–theistic at the bottom vs secular–rational at the top. Country points are national means from surveys since 2005.
